We are so excited to welcome Taylor to our family. She was born at 5:11 pm on Wednesday, June 17th weighing 7lbs, 11 oz and measuring 20 oz and of course absolutely perfect!! It was a long couple days waiting for her - but so worth it! I checked into Good Sam hospital at 7am on June 16th to start the induction process. By midnight that evening I was barely progressing (only 3cm and still a thick cervix despite having contractions). We made the decision at that point to stop the pitocin and let it flush out of my system to try and re-start things in the early am as my uterus was over-contracting but not producing results. So we got a little sleep and ramped things back up in the early morning. Labor continued to progress slowly, dilation wasn't occuring despite increasing contractions and at this point I was getting sick. Mid-afternoon I finally made it to 4cm and had the epidural hoping that would help with some of the nausea. At 5:00 pm the decision was made by my on call doctor to empty my bladder and put me in this 'jack-knife' position. I would estimate that this all happened in the next 2 minutes. Within a minute of going into 'jack-knife' our little girl dropped finally (she had still been way up high) and I called the nurse in quick to say I really need to PUSH....the nurse checks me and in those 3-4 minutes I had completely dilated and my cervix was gone and baby was RIGHT THERE..by now it is 5:04 or 5:05 and they grab a nurse mid-wife that was on the floor to come and help me deliver because my doctor was still on the freeway en route. I had her 6 minutes later at 5:11...so for as LONG as the start of the porcess was, the end went SUPER FAST! So fast that my blood pressure went way low and my body went into a little shock so I was only able to hold the little sweetie for a short bit as I was shaking so terribly and throwing up. Finally after 2+ hours my body calmed down and I was able to enjoy snuggling with this perfect little baby. When she was born my first thought was that she was so small - in comparison to Cole at least! I could just tell right away - much more petite. She also had lots of wavy blond hair and this perfectly round head as she didn't spend but a few minutes in the birth canal. It was so cute to see Cole and Kaitlynn come and visit her - they were so excited to hold her and kiss her. Cole of course insisted she needed a 'maymay (pacifier).' My mom was here for the delivery and took tons of pics yesterday, but her camera is with her and as soon as I get those pics I will put some of the whole family on here..for now I just have one I took this am of her sleeping so soundly. I am in love with her - that is for sure!
